We specialise in selling liquorice candy and its many flavored counterparts. In case you’re wondering, liquorice (pronounced as “lik-er-rish”) has nothing to do with liquor. It is a plant whose root extracts have been in use since ancient times.

They were found in the tombs of the Pharaohs of Egypt. Alexander the Great commanded his troops to chew on liquorice roots to quench their thirst. In the modern world, liquorice is used to treat ulcers, is a mild laxative and the list of healthful benefits goes on.

More recently, traditional black liquorice candy has inspired candies of various colours and flavors. In the film Goldrush, a starving Charlie Chaplin eats his own shoe laces... the laces were in fact made of liquorice!
